This site is called Images Lost and Found because it is largely a collection of everyday moments that would be easily forgotten or lost. Captured by the camera, they are found, remembered, and shared. With so many distractions, it’s easy to miss things. But sometimes the world breaks through with humor, symmetry, beauty, or just the unexpected, and those are the finds. Many of these images are walking around shots found on streets and paths I travel daily. Others are more intentional explorations of events, people, and places.
I began taking pictures as a traveling consultant in the 1990s. I lived in cities for a few weeks, several months, or a year or two. My camera was a way to thoughtfully and thoroughly explore new places. Settled in the Washington, DC area since 2010, I continue to explore a familiar but rapidly changing world and tell stories of the people, animals, places, and events around me. I have learned a lot from the DC-area photography community. I'm a member of the DC Street Photography Collective and participate in Women Street Photographers.
